Google's Gemini AI Chatbot Now Available to NC State

Gemini, Google’s generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, is now available to NC State students, faculty and staff.

Generative AI is a powerful tool that can help you create content and communicate more efficiently and effectively. By inputting prompts, Gemini and other generative AI applications can help you refine or get started with drafting emails, creating presentation outlines, writing code, organizing your tasks and thoughts, and more.

How to Access Gemini

To use Gemini, visit gemini.google.com and log in with your Unity ID. This version of Gemini is available at no cost to employees using your NC State account. Due to licensing, it is not available to unpaid appointments, retirees or generic accounts.

This free version of Gemini is not integrated with other Google Workspace apps, such as Gmail, Docs or Sheets, or extensions. You may purchase a paid license that includes these Google Workspace integrations and additional features.

Data Protection

Gemini has added data protection. To ensure your data is protected, you must log in with your NC State account (Unity ID). Using your NC State account, Gemini will not use or review your data to train its AI models.This tool is approved for green (not sensitive) and yellow (moderately sensitive) data only, as defined by the Data Management Framework.
