Did you know there are hundreds of publications in the NC State Extension Publications database that are not viewable to the public?

In an effort to ensure the content we provide is current and reliable, all of our publications are set to expire after 5 years if they are not reviewed. Primary contacts for publications receive email notifications as those expiration dates approach. If the content is not revised or renewed, it is marked “Not Current Practice” and is archived.

The content database also retains drafts of publications. Many of the drafts are publications that were transferred into the database that have not yet been reviewed to ensure the information is up to date.

In both cases, some publications may no longer be relevant and should remain archived, but others might need just a bit of revising to become valuable resources again.  Factsheets in the content database can be edited by the assigned primary contact, editor, any of the listed authors, or anyone in the department. If you have some time, log in and see what’s there!

You may find some worth revising and republishing!

As you review old publications, keep in mind that peer-reviewed, numbered publications (referred to as EP3s) require some additional review and approval steps before publication. You can revise those publications in a Word document and submit them through the publication approval tool

If you have any questions about navigating the content database or using the factsheet editor, or if you’d like some help with formatting or converting publications from PDF format, please reach out to us!
